| Baroque art in the
Mont Blanc region |
 |
Man has always asked for God's protection in this
grandiose setting overshadowed by Mont-Blanc.
Between 1680 and 1780 the Catholic Church allowed
itself to be swept up in the tide colour and joy
in God's faith by introducing Baroque Art into
Churches to counter Protestantism coming from
neighbouring Geneva.
Thus the mountains and
villages in the Mont-Blanc region shelter many
treasures such as churches, chapels, oratories
and crucifixes.
