About

This sculpture is a tribute to the woman. It is distinguished by its red color due to the redwood from which it is sculpted (Andrew Sandel, 2007).

Sandel (1950) carves all sorts of materials directly. He created this sculpture during the first Wood Festival in Passy. tense as a bow, the sculpture rises above the mountains, its mass softened by the curves of the base. Its red colour is characteristic of the wood from which it originated, the sequoia. King of the trees, the sequoia was worshiped by Native Americans. Its name comes from an Indian Chief who invented the Chirokee alphabet. Introduced into Europe in the nineteenth century, Redwood is a valuable ally to carpenters.
