From November to May, the route is cleared. Snow may still be present in spring.
In winter, access to the Tour des Fiz is not recommended (high-level ski mountaineering only).
Accessible outside the snow season and depending on weather conditions. Please check with the Tourist Offices beforehand for current access conditions and the opening hours of refuges along the route.
Free access. There is no charge for the tour itself, only for accommodation and services (catering, accompaniment by a mountain professional). Bivouacs are authorized but regulated in nature reserves.
Experience the Tour des Fiz adventure through the most technical sections!
Day 1: Departure Passy Plaine Joux then climb to Barmus then to Chalets de Platé via the Dérochoir. Be careful, the Dérochoir is a rockfall. It's a technical, semi-climbing passage with ropes and ladders, but not vertiginous. However, it can be impressive and even dangerous for those unfamiliar with this type of trail. After the Dérochoir, head for the Refuges de Sales, then the Alfred Wills refuge after the Pleureuse and Sauffaz waterfalls. Overnight at the Alfred Wills hut. 6h20 walking, 15.5km, 1350 EG, 900 EL
Day 2: Return to Plaine Joux via Lac d'Anterne, then Lac de Pormenaz to the Refuge du Chatelet d'Ayères via La Chorde (passage with ladders) before returning to Plaine-Joux. 4h50 walking, 12.5km, 650 EG, 1100 EL
